Setting up the keyboard
- Open Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard, and choose Airjot.
- Tap Airjot in that list and turn on Allow Full Access.
- In any app, tap the globe or keyboard key to switch to Airjot.
Common questions
Why does the Airjot app open when I tap the mic?
iOS doesn't let keyboards use the microphone. The first tap opens Airjot to start a listening session; swipe back to your app and keep going. While the session is open, the keyboard starts and stops recording on its own. The session ends after 5 minutes without dictation, which you can change in Settings.
Why is the microphone indicator on?
iOS shows it whenever an app holds the microphone, which Airjot does while a session is open. Airjot only turns speech into text while you're recording, and it never stores audio.
Why does the keyboard need Full Access?
So it can pass recording status and text between the keyboard and the Airjot app on your phone. The keyboard makes no network connections and doesn't record what you type. See the Privacy Policy.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the speech model (about 480 MB) has downloaded. Until then, Airjot uses Apple's speech recognition.
When does recording stop?
When you tap stop. If it hears 30 seconds of silence it counts down for 5 seconds and then stops; you can turn this off in Settings. Recordings are capped at 10 minutes.
Can I use a cloud model?
Yes, if you want. Add your own key for an OpenAI-compatible service in Settings. Only then does audio or text leave your phone, and only to that service.
How do I delete my data?
Everything is on your phone. Delete notes or history in the app, or delete the app to remove all of it. There's no account to close.
